FEEL FREE TO SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM FOR MY FREE CARD LISTING TEMPLATE
When I started selling cards on eBay, I quickly realized that how you write your listing description matters. It not only helps the buyer understand what they’re getting, but it also protects you as a seller from misunderstandings, unrealistic shipping expectations, and negative feedback.
Over time, I have developed a simple listing template that I now use across the board for cards under $20 shipped with eBay Standard Envelope. This approach keeps things consistent, saves me time, and has worked well when it comes to both sales and post-sale satisfaction.
Why I Use eBay Standard Envelope
For cards under $20, I ship using eBay Standard Envelope. It’s affordable, includes basic tracking, and is widely accepted for cards shipped in top loaders or semi-rigid holders. I place the card in a penny sleeve and top loader, then into a rigid Armalope mailer — no extra cardboard needed. The Armalope itself provides enough protection.
However, eBay Standard Envelope is not perfect. Tracking scans can be delayed, and delivery can take longer than eBay’s estimated windows suggest. That’s why I include clear disclaimers in my listing descriptions to set expectations up front.
My Go-To Listing Template for Cards Under $20
Below is the exact phrasing I use in my eBay listings for cards under $20. I simply update the player, set, and condition details for each card:
This listing is for the card shown in the photos.
Card Details:
- Player: [Insert Player Name]
- Team: [Insert Team Name]
- Set: [Insert Set Name]
- Card Type: [Insert Card Type – Autograph, Insert, Base, etc.]
- Condition: [Brief condition note – e.g., “Slight corner and edge wear”]
Shipping Details:
Your card will be shipped in a penny sleeve and top loader, placed inside a rigid Cardshellz Armalope mailer for protection. It will be sent via eBay Standard Envelope, which includes tracking and delivery confirmation.
Important Shipping Notes:
- eBay Standard Envelope tracking may not update in real time and often only shows movement at USPS checkpoints.
- Delivery may take up to 10 business days, even if eBay’s estimate shows a shorter window.
- Tracking will be provided, but scan gaps and slight delays are common.
- All cards are shipped on time — once dropped off, USPS is responsible for final delivery.
- Please allow a full 10 business days before assuming a package is lost.
Condition Disclaimer:
I am not a professional grader. The condition is described to the best of my ability. Please review the photos carefully to judge for yourself. If you have any questions or would like additional pictures, feel free to send me a message before purchasing.
Thanks for looking and supporting my store!
This format strikes a balance between efficiency and professionalism. It keeps my listings consistent, protects me from confusion or complaints, and sets the tone for a smooth transaction — even on a $5 or $10 card.
If you’re just getting started selling cards online, feel free to use this as a baseline and adapt it to your voice.
