My Experience with Filthbomb Breaks on Fanatics Live

As a follow up to my previous article on my experience entering a break, here is my full review of joining one of Filthbomb’s breaks on Fanatics Live.

Buying a Spot

Finding breaks to join on Fanatics Live was straightforward, but the process of actually getting a spot in the break a bit less so. The break that I entered was for a product called “Heaters” and a box of 2024 Bowman Draft.

In this particular break, the team assignments were random; I bid for a random spot, and after the bidding ended they spun a wheel to see what team I was assigned. However, this auction process actually takes quite a long time (around ~30 minutes in total). I ended up placing a winning bid on one of the spots for $135 (of which I had $125 of Fanatics Live credit), and was randomly assigned to the Mets.

The Break Experience

The experience during the live break was fine, and the host, Mike, got through the entire break in less than 20 minutes. There’s plenty of suspense waiting to see if a card from your team comes, but the break does go much faster than I was expecting.

Communication & Shipping

After the break, there wasn’t much follow-up communication. The break I entered was on May 2nd, but nothing showed up in my Fanatics Live account until May 5th. This is when it said a shipping label was created, but even this didn’t update for a while. It wasn’t until May 11th that I got another message saying that the card would be out for delivery the next day.

Also, I didn’t actually receive any notifications about the shipping; the only way I found out the cards were on the way is by going to the “My Orders” section of the app. I would’ve appreciated if Fanatics Live sent out email notifications updating me on my order status. Nevertheless, I received the cards on May 12th, so it only took 10 days for the cards to get from me after the break.

Receiving the Cards

When the cards arrived, I was impressed with the packaging. Everything was packed securely in a box, with most cards in penny sleeves & top loaders. The only exception is the autograph card that I hit, which was put into a mag. Overall, the attention to detail in packaging was a definite highlight.

Was It Worth It?

For me, joining the break was worth it because I had credit to use. The product was decent, and the cards arrived safely and in great condition. I’d consider joining another Filthbomb break on Fanatics Collect, but only if I had credit or a similar incentive. Without that, I’m not sure the experience would justify the cost for me.

However, in terms of choosing Filthbomb Breaks as a breaker, I was impressed how well they packaged the cards and got them shipped to me in a timely manner. There may be breakers out there who offer better value, but for my first time entering a break, I was satisfied with the experience.
